Managed to put a Fx 6300 into a am3 Motherboard?

I am buying a fx 6300 and I found someone selling there's after he found out it wasn't compatible . He put is Fx 6300 into a am3 motherboard. He only found out it didn't work after everything was inserted. Is it safe to buy anymore?
I heard the fx6300 has an extra pin .

I don't think so. The FX-6300 works with both AM3+ and AM3. Maybe that person inserted the CPU upside down

I can put the 6300 and 8350 in my crosshair IV Formula and MSI 890fxa-gd65 which are am3, i havent tried it but has cpu support on their websites

questionable id ask for photos of the pins or to inspect it some older am3 boards were able to support am3+ with just a simple bio's update example gigabyte 890fx rev. 3.0 was able to support those after a bios update as for the 6300 series Im not entirely sure. but make sure the pins are not bent or look crooked in any way.
