Had just build a new pc with asus m5a99x rev 2.0 mobo and amd fx8320 cpu. I powered up the pc and it start ok
but got msg on screen that the video didnot have power connected. Ok sofar - then i connected a pci-e power cable to the card and repowered the pc but nothing happened. Tried this twice and got a burnt smell. Then found out that stupid me had connected the pci-e power cable incorrectly on to psu (corsair cx 750m) so now it will not start at all other that the fans are running. Question is now did i fry the cpu or the mobo or the psu or the whole lot. How can i check if cpu is burnt ?
Any help is appreciated.

Had already done that and the cpu fan was spinning and cpu-led was still red.
Contacted supplier who check mobo and cpu and it was a mobo problem wherefore got a new one without charge and can now get into the bios but get msg:
quote
The current Bios setting do not fully support the boot device. Click ok to enter the bios setup. Goto advance > NEXt > CSM parameters and adjust the CSM settings to enable the boot device
unquote

I suppose i get this msg because i only have a graficcard and keyboard attached.

Should i flash the bios to the latest version before i go anyfurther and are there on this forum any guidelines in setting up the bios and how to flash etc.

Yr support much appreciated.

What's the current BIOS version?
For flashing a newer version, use EZ Flash in BIOS. Download the latest version from the ASUS site, unzip and save it on a FAT formatted USB drive. Connect it to a USB 2.0 port and follow the directions in EZ Flash.
But I wouldn't flash the BIOS if the system does work without issues.
What Windows version intending to install?
Compatibility Support Module (CSM) provides compatibility support for legacy BIOS and allows booting an operating system that requires a traditional option ROM support.

1. current bios version is 2005 on asus site the latest is 2103 which is the one just after 2005. 2103 addresses only 'improve system stability'.

2. noted but cannot tell yet as i have not yet installed any hdd/ssd etc.

3. win7 pro sp1 x64

4. so this CSM msg will disappear as soon as i connect a bootable device ?
