Hello all

It's the first time I will build my own rig, now I need advise on my build
Here it is:

CASE: Corsair Obsidian 750D
MoBo: Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0,sAM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition,sAM3+ @ 4.00Ghz
CPU cooling unit: Corsair Hydro H100i
RAM : Corsair XMS3 1333 (2x4GB)
PSU: Corsair cx 750W
GPU: MSI radeon R9 280X gaming, 3GB
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
HHD: Seagate Desktop HDD 2TB - 3.5inch
CD-ROM reader: Samsung DVR DL 24X,SATA
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM NL
Monitor: LG 21.5" 22EN43T-B LED

I also need some advise for first time overclocking, because I would like to overclock my cpu to 4.5Ghz, if that is even possible...
Also is this a good starter build?
I would like to play COD ghosts with it, you think with the R9 280x I will be able to max out the settings?
Any advise is welcome...

Wow, that is a very powerful build but can have some improvements . . . For example:
Instead of a MSI 280x go for a Sapphire TOXIC: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Toxic-1100MHz-Express-Graphics/dp/B00FOQZZ9G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385487955&sr=8-1&keywords=toxic+280x (it is overclocked a lot more than the MSI one and has a much better cooling system)
Also - The Corsair CX series isn't very good for hardcore gaming builds - I would go with this PSU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-OCZ-ZS750W-UK-Series-Bronze-single/dp/B005DJJPV8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1385488062&sr=8-3&keywords=750w

And if you change those and make the improvements I have stated then you will have a VERY powerful build!
- PS: Just to let you know that the Corsair Obsidian 750D is an absolutely MONSTROUS case, and with that I mean it is HUGE. Just to let you know.

Thank you! I will consider of buying better RAM because I know it's not that good, but my psu, will it be able to run my build flawlless altrough it's not that good?

It would, but I would still recommend getting the OCZ ZS Series 750W.

Thanks, I will certainly consider that...
one thing if I buy the fx-8320 would I be able to overclock it to 4.4 ghz then? because the 8350 already has a boost mode to 4.0 ghz.. so it's ony a improvement of 0.5 ghz thats not very much. but the 8320 stocks at 3.5 ghz and if i overclock to 4.4 that's an improvement of 0.9ghz that's very much, I'm afraid of overheating it then...

now I have a question about the RAM, would 1666 also be good for a fast system, how big is the difference between 1666 and 1866?
because in my country 2 8gb sticks of 1866 are really expensive..

another thing, doesn't it almost compare the performance, 2x4gb 1866 and 4x4gb 1333?

4x4GB would be almost double the price of 2x4GB BUT it wouldn't give you any improvement in gaming. If you want to do lots of video editing then 4x4gb would be better but otherwise it isn't better for the money. They both perform the same in gaming.

Based on the build you listed, just get 2x4GB 1866 and put extra money into quiet fans for the H100i. (it has really loud fans)

Yes, that is really good RAM.

Might I suggest switching to air cooler and save some money? If you really want to push your cpu cooler then you could get a Noctua NH-D14. It performs the same as a H100i, yet it is cheaper and much quieter. As I mentioned the H100i has loud fans and you'll probably want to replace them which costs extra money. By getting a NH-D14 you could put more money into your SSD. This way you could get a 256GB Samsung EVO. 256GB will fit OS, all programs and games.

According to one site the H100i is 5dB louder yet same performance. And sound matters! Something to consider. Some people like the look of H100i, if so then get it.

That is not entirely true. A NH-D14 is around the same performance as a Corsair H80i, the H100i is still slightly better for extreme overclockers, even though I personally don't like the Corsair Hydro range, i would rather go with a Swiftech H220, which is one of the best Closed Loop Liquid coolers there is on the market at the moment. Also - if you get a NH D14 then it does cover up 1 or 2 RAM Slots, so make sure you get Low Profile RAM.
