Asus laptop will only boot from disc, not from hard drive.
My long explanation seems to have disappeared.
My Asus had some water spilled on it a couple of weeks ago. I cleaned it up and left it turned off for a few days. It then seemed to work fine. I updated Java and Adobe, restarted and it went to the Asus recovery prompt. I tried to get to safe mode but could not. It did however boot with the last known good configuration.
A few days later it's back to the recovery prompt, still can't do safe mode and the last known configuration no longer works. I remove the hard drive and copy the files that I want. I then restore windows. Afterwards, same issue.
If I use Hiren's boot cd and use "Boot HDD 1 MBR" it will work normally. However, if I try to boot normally it will go to the recovery screen to choose language. If I click cancel it will say error in red letters with "Cannot find recovery.dat" across the top.
Any idea what the problem is?
