I'm going to crossfire my hd 7850 because I already own one.
For cpu i'll be going with the Intel® Xeon® E3-1240V3 ,for mobo the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming. ( if this is possible) , and with 750 watts PSU & 8gigs of ram.
My question is will this work ? and will this processor perform better as the i5 4670k

Sorry there are some problems with the rig, what is your budget like and which parts do you already have!? I do already own 8 gigs of 1333 kingston , 750watts psu , 1 msi 7850 2gb's
xeons are used for servers and heavy computing task, when it comes to gaming they don't give more than i5 4670k or i7 4770k, which means you are paying more, for something that will never come in handy, or you see in some games the xeon is inferrior to i5-4670k. Don't get me wrong the Xeon processors are powerful, but they are optimized for an instruction set designed for being a business server. I think the difference is in the microprocessor instruction set...so its probably not designed to enhance graphics which requires specific core instructions. Secondly, you have to have a server motherboard, and those motherboards are NOT designed for gamers or with gamers in mind. They are designed only for business apps, and make poor gaming platforms. It's not just the processor, it is also the motherboard that determine use. For gaming you are going to need this

so this is what you are going to need for gaming
1 Mobo MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
2 cpu I5 4670k or I7 4770k (there is a little difference between these two in terms of gaming currently, because a few games use hyperthreading and those which do are not that heavily threaded , so I would suggest i5-4670k, if you have the budget, and want to future proof as well go with i7-4770k)
3 another 7850
Don't forget to close the thread if you feel you don't have any other questions

Thankyou for your fast reply! , so because i'm going to crossfire my hd 7850 2gb's , an i7 would be a bit overkill paying 100euro's more for same performance , so an i5 4670k would be just fine? thx alot ur helping me out

yes I5 4670k is more than enough for dual 7850s, also two 7970s... so don't worry about anything...you are going to be fine. You are very welcome

The 1240v3 is an i7 without IGP and quick sync. It will work just fine for gaming. If you don't want to overclock, it is a solid choice that are generally cheaper than a non k edition i7.

uuhm , so I will get the same performance (fps in game) while choosing the xeon , I won't use the integrated gpu at all, but some forums say an i5 is a better choise if ur gaming , thats why I still don't get it.
(im not planning to oc the cpui though, only the gpu's) So what would u say go for the xeon? And what Mobo can run this cpu with crossfire ? , I would really appreciate u reply!!

If you want to overclock, the i5 4670k is a better choice for sure. Asrock Z87 extreme4 would be fine for motherboard. As games become better multithreaded, as we have seen with Crysis 3 in particular, the Xeon would be better than an i5 at like clock speeds. I used to game on an X3210 quad core back in the core 2 days. It did just as well as a regular core 2 quad.

for that price I would go with i7-4770k not Xeon E3-1245V2, and still I'd say i5 4670k is more than enough even for r9-290 or r9-290x, you say you don't want to overclock so i5-4670 will do the trick without k, since the k version is unlocked for overclockers, and sorry for asking, do you mind my asking your nationality!? are you Iranian?

haha im from holland that why my english might not be that good haha
I found out I could better go with the Intel Xeon Processor E3-1230V2 , since it's better as any i5 and also does the gaming part alot better.
so to this one once again what mobo do u recommend
thanks!

oh I see, no that was not your English that was your name, which made me to ask
for mobo you can go with
ASUS - P8Z77-V LX
ASUS - P8Z77-V PRO
ASUS - P8Z77-V LK
or if you prefer something cheaper you can go with
ASUS - B75M-A

Asrock z77 extreme4 is good all around board. It will SLI or Crossfire. Been using mine for about a 1yr and half now. If you want to overclock and the price is lower, a 3570k is a nice choice for CPU. They will do 4.0ghz with just a simple multiplier bump leaving everything else on auto.
