Ok i im looking to buy a r9 270x and my power supply cooler master 500w extreme only has one pci e and the video card has 2x6 6 pin connecters, what should i do

Solution
Your best option is to get a new PSU.

Your PSU could power the R9 270x with a 6+2 pin splitter but it is very much risky and would result in your blowing your PSU either when plugged in or after a while.

The R9 270x requires a minimum of 500W and 24A on the 12V+ rail. Your PSU has a split rail design with 18A on each split so that won't cut it. Signifying why you only have 1 6+2 pin. Not to mention your PSU isn't 80+ effeciency so I'd assume it's made with low grade parts

Plus its always good to use a PSU that is 100 above the minimum required wattage so if the minimum is 500W get a 600W or above PSU.

Basically if you want to not put your R9 270X at risk its best to get a new PSU. One of the 5 PSUs I suggested will do perfectly.

Normally I would say just grab a molex to PCI-E adapter, but being a dual rail design and only able to supply 360watts total on it's 12v lines you'd be pushing awfully close to it's limits and will likely overload one of the rails causing it to randomly shut down or fail if you do it that way.

Seems like this is probably the time to replace the power supply.

Would I suggest:
XFX 650w: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207022
HX 650w: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012
CX 600W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028
TX 650W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
Seasonic X Series:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151088

These are all high built PSU with more than enough watts and amps on the 12V+ rail to supply your R9 270x as well as 6+2 pins

Though I would suggest the HX series PSUs as their 80 Plus gold and well built. Getting one myself :)(750w)
