Hi everybody,

I would like to upgrade my 8800 gts aincient videocard with a new one. I'm on a very tight budget. My system is a q6600, GA-P35C-DS3R, with a 8800 videocard, and a LIAN-LI PC-65B case.

Would the MSI GeForce GTX 770 OC videocard http://www.ncix.ca/products/sku=84358&vpn=N770%20TF%202...
be compatible with this motherboard Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R ATX LGA775 Conroe P35 DDR2/DDR3 1PCI-E16 http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD4526

and if yes,

will it fit in the LIAN-LI PC-65B case?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, no. The motherboard you listed does have a PCI-E x16 slot, but it's not the PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot. The GTX 770 uses a PCI-E 3rd generation (3.0) x16 slot. The motherboard you listed is confirmed to be only using a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot. My suggestion, if you're on a tight budget, get this motherboard:

Also, get this processor that supports this motherboard, http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-3220-Dual-Core-Processor...
Hope this helps.

Your MB has P35 chipset with the pcie1.1X16, and the Nvidia GPU will work on it, but AMD GPU maybe not. Here is an interest article and please read it all.

Also remove the HD bay, then the card will fit. In case you can measure the space, the MSI gtx770 dimensions is10.24" x 4.96" x 1.5".

Actually, scratch that. Yes, it can be used on a PCI-E 2.0, and will not slow down the performance of it. It will also fit nicely in the Lian-Li PC-65B with no problem if you take out the hard drive bays. Sorry about that.

Thanks cin19 for the article. So I'll stick with nvidia.Do you think getting the 770 gtx is an overkill? To play BF4 I will probably need to upgrade the memory, too. Any ideas on a good set memory chips (2x4gigs) ?

Thanks for the reply and for the suggestions. I will probably get the 770 gtx if this coming Friday if I'll find it on sale. Any ideas on a good set of memory chips for this old board? 2x4 gigs.

I think you are fine for now, but here is other review " Is This Even Fair? Budget Ivy Bridge Takes On Core 2 Duo And Quad " you can see the old cpu will be less and less power for the new games. You may need saving more $$ if you want to play the new games, because you may need to upgrade the whole system.

How much RAM do you have now? If you have 4GB you are fine. Do you have the DDR3 RAM or DDR2, but if you are going to buy the DDR2 I think it is not worth. Note: Your MB can support only 4GB DDR3 and 8GB DDR2 RAM.

I have 4 gigs of ddr3. I'm maxed out. I tried to play the latest call of duty - ghosts- and it didn't even let me start the game, saying that I should have at least 8 gigs of ram. So I'll probably have to buy a new mobo after all.
Thank you for your help.
