Hi everyone,

Over the last few months, I've been putting a bit of money away so I can build my own PC. It's been something I've wanted to do for a while. I have posted on here once before I believe. So here is my parts list, what do you think of this build? Are the parts compatible? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

CM storm case
G.skill rip jaws 3x4 GB ram
Intel Core i5 4670k
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 Splinter Cell OC 2GB
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64 bit OEM
Samsung sata black internal dvd rw drive
Samsung SSD 120gb
Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm hard drive
antec 750W power supply

Solution
Needs help.

Get 2x4gb RAM. three modules will break dual channel and hurt performance. 8gb is more than enough.

750w is a bit overkill. 650w would be plenty.

I agree with tiny voices comments. You don't want three sticks of RAM in a dual channel system. My personal preference would be to ditch the MSI motherboard for either a Gigabyte or Asus board. I've had much better luck with those brands than I have with MSI. Other than that it looks like you have done your research. Well done.

The ASUS Z87-A would be a solid choice. I can see your confusion about the RAM. DDR3 is just the newest RAM technology used in modern systems and replaced DDR2 as a standard. There were a few systems that supported triple-channel RAM (three or six sticks) in the past, but most current systems just use dual-channel RAM (two or four sticks) now.
