I'm looking at buying a video card for my mom for Christmas, I'm looking at ASUS GT630-DCSL-2GD3 GeForce GT 630 2GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready Video Card and ASUS GT630-2GD3 GeForce GT 630 2GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card and the only big differences is the 1st one has no fan but has its own lil heatsink, its dual slot, and the interface is PCI Express 2.0 while the other one is PCI Express 2.0x16 whats the difference between PCI Express 2.0 x16 and PCI Express 2.0?

blaine is a marking gimic for new tech buyers. video cards started out in the 90 as pci cards...then went to agp slots...when agp speed wall was hit intel came up with pci express slots. the first slots were 1x speed. the x58/x68 were pci express 2.0 and the newer x77 and x87 chipsets are 3.0 speed. with one gpu the pci slot runs at 16x speed with two it runs at 8x/8x speed. the card box and online is just a marking blunders. the cards should be marked as the first one pci express 2.0 card.

I've noticed that difference in nomenclature as well. I'm not sure why they state it that way. There is no difference! PCIe 2.0 is PCIe 2.0. And they all use the PCIe x16 slot. Must just be different manufacturers' way of designating the same spec.
