I'm currently switching to an Intel platform. I'm a huge fan of liquid cooling and have implemented that in my systems for the past couple years. Considering I just purchased the Phanteks Enthoo Primo and I'm no longer building out of my old Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 I've kept my loop simple to conserve space. I currently have my 965 BE and my MSI GTX 670 on the loop but am looking to include the mobo on my new system. I'm debating on whether or not to purchase the following boards:

I'm wondering if I can mount the XSPC Z87 XPower block to either of these boards and/or whether or not it will really matter that I'm not using the board the block was designed for? Here's a link to the block:

If I can't actually use this block is there any known blocks out there are that are more universal for the Z87 platform?

Motherboard water-blocks typically only work with the one board, and according to the description of the block it is only compatible with the MSI Z87 XPower series.

So if you want that block, you need this board.

To my knowledge there are no universal motherboard blocks, because beyond general layout and mounting holes, mobo manufacturers pretty much have free reign to design boards as they like, including heatsink mounting.

I am not certain about the MSI board, but I can tell you it will not work with the ASUS. There are universal blocks you can get that will work if you look around (though how well, I don't know). How set on those boards are you? Because there are boards in that price range that have blocks made for them. The ASUS Hero for 200 dollars or so has both a PCH and VRM cooler available from EK. And if you can spend a few bucks of course both the Formula and Extreme have full cover blocks available.
