I just tried to add 2 G.Skill pc2 8500 2gb 1066mhz dimms (5-5-5-15 2.0-2.1v). I have two Mushkin Blackline 1066mhz (6-6-6-18 2.0v) dimms that have worked for years. The mobo (a780gm-a ultra) won't do anything with all four installed. Any combination of two works but more than two dimms shuts me down. I know it isn't recommended that you mix ram brands but one of each works fine. I tried increasing the voltage to the dimms without success. I know these brands aren't on the compatible list on ecs website but they all work, just not together. I tried some crucial 1gb 800mhz strips and they also shut me down when there is more than two dimms installed. I also tried removing my graphics card and just using the integrated video. I have a 450w power supply and a Phenom ii x6 3.3ghz 1100t processor. Are there any bios settings I can try to get the four dimms functional? Any help would be appreciated.

my best bet for you is to try and manually enter the timings to 6-6-6-18, and dram voltage to 2.1v. As you mentioned its not reccomended to mix kits especially when one set has different timings, and a different voltage rating. Make sure you use compressed air to blow out the two slots that havn't been used. Additionally see if the computer will boot with just the formerly unused slots in place... also remember to put them in there in this order...

M-G-M-G (M=mushkin G=Gskill) you don't want the same sticks beside eachother, you want them in the same colored slots.
