Hi,
I have a XW4300 with a pentium d (upgrade from p4 3 monthd ago), 3gb ram, x2 sata hd's and ati graphics installed. My motherboard is running from 45c to 89c. This was causing some shut down instances but after adding additional case fan, cpu cooling fan and setting the bios fan speed to near maximum it seems a little more stable.

When idle its 45c but as soon as I do anything ie internet its rises rapidly and quickly. Still doesn't seem right to me.

Any idea's?

its not exactly high spec and pretty old. Wouldn't have thought the ventilation would but that much of a problem, as I have had the pc where it is for over a year. About 2-3 inches behind tower, but very little at the side.

If this wasn't a problem immediately when you got your computer it's likely solvable by cleaning out the dust throughout your case (there's a guide for that because it can be tricky) and possibly reseating your cpu heatsink..

definitely not worth getting a new case for it.like was earlier posted clean the dust from the interior of your machine paying particular attention the the cpu,gpu heatsinks. chances are after 7 years you will need to reapply heatsink paste to at least your cpu. clean the old grease off with something like cotton swabs and alchohol. i just gave mine a minor clean of the heatsinks and it dropped my cpu temp by 7 degrees celsius.
