Hi. I'm not very good at computers as of yet, so I'd like to simply ask: Will my existing Asus motherboard work with this new 280X? I currently use an nVidia 560ti and would like to upgrade. Additionally, it would be helpful if it could be explained how to tell if such a compatibility exists, for future reference.

Yes it has a PCIe 2.0 slot so it will work. The 280x will work in that slot as PCIe 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0, you just won't have the full bandwidth available.

Ah, thank you. What do you mean by bandwidth?

Bandwidth is one of the things that governs the actual throughput of the card.

So, a 16-lane slot (each direction):

v1.x: 4 GB/s (40 GT/s)
v2.x: 8 GB/s (80 GT/s)
v3.0: 15.75 GB/s (128 GT/s)
v4.0: 31.51 GB/s (256 GT/s)
