Hi,
My old graphics card has 6 and 8 pin power sockets. The sockets are fed from two 8 pin sockets on the PSU. So it uses one 8->8 pin cable and another 8->6 pin cable (on this cable two pins are just left out on the 8-pin side).
My new card has two 8 pin sockets. Can I use the 8->6 pin cable and plug the 6pin end into the 8-pin socket of the card?
I concerned that the 8->6 pin cable cannot carry the current. Or that the card/psu does some probing on the number of pins connected and supplies the wrong amount of power.
Thanks
