When I play games and I'm in a dark zone it's very very dark, I can't see anything, I think this happens because my flat monitor is old and I would like to know if I can do something to repair it by myself without having to pay or buy a new monitor.

If it's an lcd monitor, you could try replacing the inverter and ccfl. If the ccfl is getting "old" it will lose some of it's luminence and tend to leave the background dark.

Check for a manual for your monitor and see if you can find specs for the inverter (changes low voltage to high voltage) which is the most likely issue. If you can find both the inverter and ccfl (cold cathode fluorescent light), replace both and you should be good to go.

I'm not sure if it's an LCD monitor, I don't know what is the invertir nor the ccfl, I haven't got the manual for my monitor, if I need to replace the invertir and ccfl I need to buy them? Thanks.

Do a google search on your monitor make and model for the manual. The inverter is a small circuit board (about 1/2 inch by 4 inches) that is usually found near the bottom of the screen inside the bezel. The ccfl is about the same diameter as wooden pencil lead and is about 5-7 inches long. It is usually near the inverter.

Yes, you would need to buy one or both pieces.
