My old desktop finally kicked the bucket.

Emachines
ET1331G-03w
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Athlon II X2 235e Dual-Core Processor
Nvidia GeForce 6150SE Integrated
750GB HDD
6GB DDR2 Memory

This was a pretty basic computer, but it was fast and did what I needed. It even ran some more modern games on low settings. Cost me $500 and lasted me for 5 years.

Obviously, it's been some time since this was new, and I hear I can find systems similar to this for cheaper nowadays. I'm hoping to find something more up to date for $200 to $300. Unfortunately, I know jack all about part numbers and what would be considered an upgrade. All I know is that the nvidia card is old, old even when I bought the computer.

I was hoping to get some links for computers that fit this criteria. Obviously, I can search myself, but like I said, I don't know what would be considered an upgrade or the best I can get for the money I wish to spend. I'd like, if possible, to get a new, not refurbished computer. I have had bad luck with those. Also, I'd like to stay with Windows 7.

Some help in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, you can just buy a new board or you can upgrade the cpu/memory as well. Taking it to a repair shop will INVALIDATE ANY SAVINGS!
They are all gits who charge BIG for your ignorance, assembling a simple computer.
Its easy do able with a little online research.
You will need a new copy of windows. get 7 off ebay , with a genuine disk about 40 $.

That wasnt much of a pc. The graphics card was never a gamer.
You are stretching it, even at your max 300$ to get a rig that will play games. You should look for a desktop pc with an amd chip that has the best game graphics onboard, and stick with that until you have some money. I am sure some u.s. folks could point one out.

Well, I really only play two MMOs, both fine on low settings. I'm not looking to build a gaming PC that will allow me to play PS4 games with real-life graphics quality. Just something a little better than what I had is enough for my needs.

I do endeavor to save up for a really good computer in the future. Unfortunately, all I have right now is a clunker of a laptop that's slow browsing and barely plays videos without lag.

The motherboard is shot.

At least, that's what I was told. I get American Megatrends on boot and nothing I do will get rid of it. I even ran a SpotMau disc and it can't help.

Then just buy an amd Matx board and the best amd chip you can get? you could get 4 gig of ram and a small graphics card as well for 300 $
You can watch a video on you tube to see how easy it is, or get a mate to help.

Windows 7 was preinstalled. It didn't come with an installation disc.

I picked the computer up at Walmart.

Thanks! So, these are parts, then? Do I need to get them assembled at a computer repair or something?
