I'm planning on building my first gaming PC. I'm planning on getting a second card in the future and running three monitors. Is it better to have two 760 with 4gb each or two 2gb 770?

Well, just to be clear, VRAM is NOT shared. If both cards have 2gigs of VRAM each, then 2GB is how much VRAM you will have (and not 4gigs). If you are going for high resolution multimonitor setups, then you definitely need 3GB and more. Have you considered going for a 780ti? In my opinion, it is a much better solution (both performance-wise and price-wise) and a single card is always more stable than dual gpu configs (i.e. no microstuttering).

I would definitely go with a GTX 770 4Gb. It's a very powerful GPU and if you read reviews online and from newegg. You can play everything on Max settings an get minimum 50-60fps. I never liked sli but I believe you won't be disappointed.

I should have stated this previously. But money is a problem. A basic 770 at around 330 bucks is really my limit. The second card won't be for at least another year.

Well you definitively need 3GB or more for a triple monitor setup. Even if you will be buying the 770's just make sure you buy the 4GB version (as they are not available in 3GB of VRAM). Also make sure you buy a brand which provides good cooling.
