Having trouble with a new graphics card.

So, I just added a new motherboard and graphics card to my build. I got the new motherboard working without a hitch, but the graphics card doesn't want to play nice. The fans spin, and everything works, even my monitor is powered up, but nothing shows up... Its just black. I checked with my old card and it worked fine, but the new one doesn't want to work. I dunno if it is incompatible, but I hope it isn't. I have a 500w PSU, but I have to use a molex to 6 pin connector to power one half of the card, seeing as mine doesn't have 2 6 pin connectors. Thanks for the help!

Solution
Try and boot up your pc with the monitor connected to your motherboard's integrated graphics (if available). Keep the new card in the motherboards pcie slot, with the power cables attached and see if your system recognises the card.

Seeing as I don't have integrated graphics, could I possibly use my working card which is a GTX 550ti, and just have the other one in there with cables attached, or would that not work...?

Yes it will work, just make sure you have the 550ti's drivers installed.

I don't think that you can use an AMD GPU and an Nvidia GPU simultaneously, but I could be wrong. Seems like there would be all kinds of driver conflicts.

We are not trying to make both cards work simultaneously, we are just booting up the system using the card which we know it works, in order to see if the "not responding" card is recognised by the motherboard.

When I tried to boot up the computer, it was completely black, with both cards, nothing showed up. After testing the 550, it worked by itself, but not with the new card side by side. Not sure what the problem might be?
