Hi guys, I wanna OC my i5-3570K 3.4Ghz to 4.2Ghz. I've ask many questions related to OC but I still don't get this part. As I increase my FSB/Multiplier, I need higher voltage to the CPU, which is the Vcore (right?) But how should I increase Vcore? Is the standard level of it 1.250V(cuz I saw some people OC and has Vcore >1.25 AND <1.25)? Would there be some kind of ratio of increasing it? Thanks in advance :D

MOBO: Asus P8Z77-LX
CPU: Intel 3rd gen i5-3570K
GPU: GeForce GT 630
Fan: Hyper 212 EVO(yet to have it)
Power: 650W

Set it to offset and -.20 and see if it boots,if it does test for stability. :D

-.20 means reducing 0.20? why reduce voltage? Isn't it that OC needs more power? :o

Ok I've read through some other forums and learnt one or two. I've come to notice that all chips are special regardless of model as they all can have different Vcore value. You've said -.20 and see if it boots, what if it doesn't? Do I continue reducing or start increasing? Also I don't quite understand how LLC and PLL works out. Is OC really this complicated ._.

Here's another thing: Based on this guide http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1808604/intel-temp... it said "Vcore settings should not exceed the following: 22 Nanometer 3rd Generation Core i ..... 1.30 Vcore" but many people OCed 3rd gen i5s having Vcore >1.30, some even reaching 1.70. Why does situation vary this much?
