Approximate Purchase Date: Today or tomorrow

Budget: £2000 or thereabouts, a few hundred either way doesn't matter too much

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, internet browsing, watching films, amateur 3d modelling

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: No preference, but nothing shady.

Location: UK

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU is mandatory

Overclocking: In the future

SLI or Crossfire: In the future

Your Monitor Resolution: 2560x1440

Additional Comments: I mainly play strategies and RPGs, but do enjoy the occasional FPS. Quiet is good, as is the absence of unnecessary LEDs and the like. Function over form.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Current PC is atrociously outdated and I'm looking to play games on ultra settings at 2560x1440

Looks great, got a beast of a system there. May want to reconsider the RAM. If you are going to use an NH-D14 then you need to get some Low-profile ram. I recommend some Crucial Ballistix Sport. If you get high-profile ram like than the cooler or the ram wont fit.

No need for 8gb of ram.
Cheaper motherboard.
Cheaper gpu, same performance.
Bigger psu for more headroom when you do future SLI.

Thanks for the input.

This PC is unfortunately going to be too far from my hub to realistically use an ethernet cable, so the PRO's built in wifi is a pretty large boon in this scenario.

I'll read up on the available varieties of low profile RAM (didn't even realise that was a concern here!)

Possibly a silly question, but is there any actual benefit to having the windowed case? If it's purely aesthetic I'd rather go without.

What was the reason for the different PSU?

For my (hopefully) final question, has anyone tried out the Razer Tiamat 7.1? If so, I'd be interested in hearing your opinions of it and a recommendation for a sound card.

EDIT: This seems to suggest the RAM would fit.

-Window cases are purely for aesthetic reasons to be able to show off your rig.
-Then go for the PRO.
-I recommended a different psu because it's recommended to go for 850w if you plan to SLI to leave enough headroom for overclocking. 750w is cutting it close. Also, it's practically the same price.
-There's no need for a sound card unless you have high end speakers. But if you really want to go for one, you should stick with Creative Labs/Asus.

I order today. I'm happy with the build itself, just looking for recommendations on a mouse, mechanical keyboard and headset or speakers. I can go up to £500 on the lot if needs be, but I'm not gonna complain about spending a little less.

Do you know what particular Cherry MX switch you want?
You can google the different cherry mx switches and find out which one you prefer before buying a mechanical keyboard.
Also, the monitor has built in speakers which should be good enough speaker-wise.
