After replacing the stock intel CPU cooler for my 1155 cpu (i5-3570k) with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus heatsink/fan, I am unable to get my computer to boot. It just exhibits the following behaviour:

All 3 fans spin up (2 case and the new CPU). I can hear the HDD start to power up and be accessed... and then there's a sudden stop to everything and the machine reboots. With the new CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan header, when the power starts everything up, it goes for about 3 seconds before the CPU fan slows and stops. About 8 seconds after that, the power is cut and the system reboots. I've tried changing it to one of the system fan headers and the CPU fan will stay on constantly, but the computer still reboots after the same timeframe elapses.

I have the PC connected to my TV via HDMI through the geForce 770 card, but I'm not seeing any error codes on the screen -- no signal is what my TV keep saying to me. I've also grabbed a secondary monitor and connected it to the integrated graphics VGA port, but see nothing (could be because I turned off the integrated graphics in the BIOS prior to this fiasco).

I have tried removing the new heatsink and reapplying thermal paste and remounting and I end up with the same exact behaviour.

I don't even know where to start here... please help.
I really don't want to have to try to reinstall the old CPU fan and return this one -- it's supposed to be compatible with my setup.

I figured it out.
I have a mental block that the RAM slots should be numbered in order... that is: 1,2,3,4.

They are not. They are ordered: 1,3,2,4.
I ended up putting the ram in slots 1 and 2 instead of 1 and 3.

I was about ready to call the board toast because it looked like some pins in the CPU socket might have bent somehow, but I gave this one last shot and it now works. Sorry for the hassle/idiocy.
