Big prices differences between 7870 GHz brands worth it?

although they may look like good deals, may i suggest you look instead at the R9-2xx series of cards. These are newer series cards however the R9-290 is the only new one. 280 and 270 are rebranded versions of the older 7000 series cards. 270 series is a rebranded 7870 but a little bit faster. You may want to choose a R9-270/270x instead of a 7870

My rig is older, so I don't want an overkill upgrade. I simply want to maximize what I have, and hopefully make it last a couple more years on medium-high settings (games like bf4).
My current specs are:
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33GHz
2 x 4GB DDR2 RAM
GT240 1GB PCIe- 1.1x16 Slot

Others so far have recommended me 650 Ti Boost, 7850/7870.
