My 1tb external hard drive is not detecting in my computer or disk management, help?

Hi, I really hope someone can help me with this. Recently I was using my 1tb segate goflex external hard drive, it was working fine one minute then my daughter came and knock the external off the table and so it got disconnect from the cord. I plug it back in and it now doesn't show up on "my computer". I've search for an answer to solve this problem for two days now, many thread I've read said to rename the drive with a new letter or uninstall and reinstall the driver, I've try both attempt and still no luck.

When I view it in disk management, it doesn't show the name of the external but it does have disk 0, disk 1, and disk 2 (which is the one I believe my external is assign) I'm not 100% positive because as i look at the amount of space, it not saying 1tb, it showing me 3g or something. I really really need someone to help me recover this without losing all my data on there.

Thanks.

More about 1tb external hard drive detecting computer disk management
  1. Have you tried connecting your hard drive at the back of your computer ? I mean try connecting HD on the USB slots that are available on motherboard rather than USB slots that are in front of your case.

If you can see the drive in Disk Management, that is a very good sign! Do all three drives have drive letters assigned to them? You may just need to assign a new drive letter to the drive in order to see it in My Computer.

I'm using a laptop. I've also try connecting to a computer tower too but it still doesn't show up on my computer. Any other suggestion?

I saw disk2 which I believe is the drive I'm looking for, however it not the correct amount of space (it's showing me 3.8 GB, but this is suppose to be a 1TB, is this correct or am I looking at a different one, b/c this is the one labeling unallocated). I've try to re assign a different letter but it doesn't work, it didn't giveme that option, everything else is highlight in grey except "help" and "property"
