I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and I would like to upgrade my system to 32gb of ram. I have purchased a full copy of Ultimate, but when I try to upgrade, it's asking me to purchase an upgrade key. Can I not use this full copy to upgrade??

I think you need to use windows anytime upgrade not a full version. If I remember correctly, the anytime upgrade is just a new license key that unlocks the necessary windows features already built into all versions of windows 7. Try doing a computer search for "anytime upgrade" from your start menu.
the product key is in the box itself.upon clicking upgrade,and ask u for the key then just type them.or clicking fresh installation will wipe out all your data.thats right,using that key.ctrl panel>system n sec>system.at the bottom.windows activation (windows anytime upgrade) .enter it twice (first enter,will download ultimate).2nd enter,will activate it.if u got invalid or block key.u have 30 OR 2-3 day trial

I'm looking to buy a Dell Inspiron 660 which includes a 64 bit version of Win 7 Home.
I need to have Win 7 Professional 64 bit for a program I use for work. I have the box version of Windows 7 Professional, and want to know what my next step is to upgrade to Win 7 Pro.
From what I've read, these seem to be the options for me:
1 - If I want to keep any programs that are pre-loaded, it appears as if I must buy an upgrade license. This doesn't make sense since I have a full copy purchased at retail. Then again, making sense doesn't matter when MS is involved.
2 - I can do a full install of Win 7 Pro 64 bit using the disc I have, in which case any pre-loaded programs and drivers will be erased.
If somebody can clarify what I need to do, would be most appreciated.
