Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I have an Alienware m18xR2 that had its dual 7970m's replaced yesterday due to me getting BSODs.

I am now having incredible difficulty getting my drivers back to the point they were at on Monday.

After trying to install the latest drivers from the AMD website I then had a problem of one of the gfx cards showing as disabled in CCC. This was remedied after an hour on the phone with dell where I managed to get to a point where i had the latest drivers for my laptop from the official dell support page, however, my fps performance was greatly reduced and after looking at the software information I was now running version 12.11!

So i wanted to try again at downloading the latest AMD drivers which leads me to my latest problem. The AMD installer is only downloading Hydravision and an Audio Driver. This is now also happening with the official dell 12.11 driver installer as well which worked perfectly yesterday. If you could help me get the full install completed i would be very grateful.

Things I have already tried include:
Using control panel and express uninstall
booting into safe mode, uninstalling gfx cards through device manager
booting into safe mode and using Driver fusion to remove any leftover driver parts

Thanks

Matty

Do you remember what version of CCC you were using before the issues? Through the AMD site you can download legacy releases as well as pre-release beta versions. I'd try the latest beta if I were you.

Thanks for the reply, I have worked my way backwards through the driver versions and have found that version 13.8 is the only package that will successfully install. This is giving me about 90% of the performance I had before all of this but obviously I'm still trying to work out what is causing the latest drivers to fail their installation.

Just to clarify, there is no error messages or warnings when installing the latest drivers, everything runs though perfectly smoothly but only takes around 10 seconds for the full installation wizard to complete. This leaves me with just the hydravision and a HDMI audio driver. There is no CCC and no display drivers or anything else.

Thanks

I'm having a smiliar problem and spent 4 hours researching and mucking with drivers to no avail.
My system is a Dell optiplex. I had windows 8 on it and recnetly updated to win8.1. Then I got 2 new monitors ...big 27" flat panels. Both have Display Port and HDMI outputs. My adapter is HD 7500. It has DisplayPort and DVI. So one monitor is connected directly via display port. I had an HDMI to DVI adapter so used that to plug in the other monitor. This is where I'm getting the famous one inch black border.

I know that the solution is to install CCC but I can't get it to install properly. It doesn't show up on the context menu of my desktop but I can start the app directly from the exe. But all it has is the Hydravision feature.

I tried the AMD guided cleanse (uninstalling and getting rid of registry gunk) then reinstall. I've tried so many different ways to solve it. At this point it would be best to just buy a new adapter card and not waste more of my time but gah! I don't want to give in.

One of the install symptoms is that it goes through the install much too quickly.

I've also tried using the newer beta of CCC. That didn't make a difference.

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread. It is the first one I've found that talked about this partial install.

Thanks

Julie

Hey! I actually got it to install properly today. I was on Windows 8.0 and updated to Windows 8.1 and ran the installer again , saw a new folder in c:\amd (WU-CC2), ran setup.exe in there and then got the full blown version of CCC installed finally. Not sure if it will help but I did blog it in case someone else has this problem: http://thedatafarm.com/blog/tools/problems-installing-amd-catalyst-control-center-on-windows-8-here-rsquo-s-my-fix/
