Hi all,

I recently installed a new SSD into my setup which has two 680s in SLI, but ever since I installed that SSD the second 680 no longer is recognized by windows. I have tried switching the 680s around in PCIe slots 1 & 2 (and also 1 & 3), as well as removing the SSD and reseting the BIOS (firmware latest version, checked) and uninstalling/reinstalling nvidia drivers and intel chipset drivers, but nothing seems to work and the 680 that's in slot 2 or 3 is no longer recognized by the system anymore.

I also re-installed windows to see if that would do anything but it didn't, used driver sweeper to remove old nvidia driver installations, and made sure the integrated graphics is disabled in bios, so my best guess right now is that the pci-e slots have died. :/

Both 680s work individually in slot 1, but neither work in slot 2 or 3, individually or together, so... I'm thinking just RMA the motherboard, but if anyone has a response or has had a similar problem with their setup, please reply.

Thank you. :)

I have a Silverstone Strider 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU

No the SSD is just connected with a standard molex to sata power adapter.

No I don't have anything else thats PCIe based unfortunately, and yes the cables are properly secured and connected when both cards are installed.

What kind of Motherboard do you have?
Since you just a fresh install, Do you have the latest/correct drivers for it?

Think since it worked before you installed the SSD, coupled with your solid PSU I would chalk this down to the drivers. Unless you went jabbing at your PCI slots when you were installing your SSD :)

It's the MSI Z77 MPower Intel Z77 Motherboard, which does support SLI and I've installed all the drivers and utilities for it from MSI Live Update 5 which I downloaded from the motherboard's download page on MSI site.

I had to remove one of the 680s from the 1st pcie slot when installing the SSD, so that must have maybe confused the bios or something? But apart from that I don't understand why it's not working again after re-installing windows and installing fresh nvidia drivers :(

It sounds like a doozie, I don't suppose MSI has anything in their BIOS that sticks out and shows you the card is seen being seen? Did you get a driver disk with your cards? Might be worth doing an uninstall of the GPU drivers going back to those to see if it works. Then letting it auto update. I'm just firing idea's here but maybe doing a re-install of the OS with both cards connected. I assume the cards have fans, and both cards lit up and spinning when connected to the PSU?

Yeah both cards are currently in my PC with both fans spinning on each card, so it appears that both of them are working, but only one 680 is recognized in windows (the 680 in slot 1). I tried using the CD that came with the card also, as well as the motherboard's default drivers too :(

I didn't know that you are in the UK. Forget about the link that I posted as that is the Tech Support for USA.

Good luck with the RMA!

Yeah? Sorry to hear that! It is strange, I had the same issue once but it turned out to be the connection between my PSU and my card. Easy fixed when I replaced my PCI-E to Molex connector. But if it's spinning up it seems like it could be a board issue. If they can't RMA it maybe ask their tech support guys for some help. OCUK are pretty good for support. Hope it get's resolved soon!

Well I tried both cards together with the SLI bridge without the SSD in the first place, so trying a different slot probably wouldn't solve the issue.
