Hello everyone,

I'm looking to buy a new gaming PC quite soon. I don't have the greatest knowledge though, and since this is my first time building a PC i figured i would ask here.

i live in Canada (Montreal), i'm looking to get the best build i possibly can for around 1200$. It will almost be exclusively used for gaming. i have no problems with going with SLI/Crossfire, although i will need a good cooler (my room tends to heat up quite a bit in the summer).

Basically, i'm asking you what would YOU buy as parts for that budget, what's the best deals?

Thanks in advance!

That 7970 for $209 and the 8320 and motheboard for $199 are two pretty crazy deals right there. Just depends on how soon you plan on building, because this weekend, you could build yourself a good system for cheap for black friday sales.

Check out newegg.ca or ncix.com for components. With the black friday sales about to start you should get some good deals.

Did you want to overclock? And what level of gaming are you hoping to achieve? Mid-range or high end? You can do high end with that budget.

I would like to overclock, yes. I want to be able to run any new games at high quality with good, stable fps if possible. I would definitely like to go for a high-end build, with the budget i gave myself i'm sure that there are great possibilities.

I built what's in my signature about a month ago for $1200 including 13% HST. Intel tends to be a lot more expensive in Canada compared to AMD. The price difference is a lot smaller in the states.

Defiintely a great build kinda what i would be looking for. I probably will go for AMD cause of the price difference. Also, that 7970 and the 8320 + motherboard you posted here are really insane deals... thanks for the heads-up!

Ya the intel/amd price difference in Canada makes AMD the better choice for sure. You could build a rocking system half from that ncix page alone. lol. That mob/cpu combo (that's the mb I have, and with my liquid cooler, I can OC to 4.7) the SSD, the 3TB drive, 1 or 2 7970's or 2 of the 660's in SLI, would be a rocking system. just need ram/case/psu
