Hi everyone, I got a problem. 
So I just put together my all new system (apart from the optical drive, which I took from my old system, not that I think it matters).
It consists of:
Motherboard: ASUS R.O.G. Maximus VI Hero
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K
GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 570 (I got this one for free from a friend and will be upgrading to at least a GTX 770 as soon as the 800 Maxwell series comes out in early 2014 and the prices drop)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 2x 8GB (16GB because I'll be using Photoshop quite often, I know it's not much of a use for gaming)
PSU: Corsair Professional Series AX760 (760W)
SSD: Samsung 120GB 840 EVO
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB/64MB - 7200rpm
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i
So I tried to follow this tutorial to install Windows 8 on my SSD since I don't have a very good knowledge of the subject myself. I did the advised changes in the BIOS utility (for all of you who know the UEFI BIOS Utility of the Asus R.O.G Motherboards):
1. I went under Advanced -> SATA Configuration -> SATA MODE Selection and checked if it was set to [AHCT], which it was indeed.
2. Since the tutorial advises to "check to see if ACPI 2.0 or newer is in the UEFI/BIOS and enable it if it is there" I looked for that all over the BIOS utility, but didn't find it, so I went to Wikipedia to look up what it actually is and found that ACPI was a new standard that replaced "Advanced Power Management". I also read something about "Global states" - there were a couple of different ones, including S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5. So I went back to the BIOS utility and found Advanced -> APM and thought that APM must mean "Advanced Power Management", so I went further and found Advanced -> APM -> ErP Ready which had the options [Disabled] (default), [Enable (S4+S5)] and [Enable (S5)]. I decided that this was to much of an accordance with the stuff I read on Wikipedia to be a coincident, therefore [Enable (S4+S5)] and [Enable (S5)] must have been "ACPI 2.0 or newer". So I went ahead and chose [Enable (S4+S5)]. I hope that was correct, I really have no idea what I'm doing ^^.
3. I went under Boot -> Boot Logo Display and set it from [Auto] to [Full Screen] because I thought it looked cooler xD!
Those were all the changes I did, everything else is still default.
I don't know how to do any kind of updates (neither for the motherboard nor for the SSD) without actually having an OS installed.
I followed the rest of the tutorial to the best of my (lacking) skill and knowledge until I came to the part where I had to type "List Disk" into the command prompt and then select my drive, because the command prompt simply spew out that there was no disk to be found after entering "List Disk". I chose to ignore this and continued, but didn't come far as the Windows Setup wasn't able to find any drive to install anything on either.
So I went back and checked in the BIOS utility under Advanced -> SATA Configuration is my SSD was even listed, and indeed, it wasn't. The only thing that was listed was my optical drive, which obviously worked fine with my Windows 8 Disc and all.
