svchost using 40 to 70 % if the CPU!

Hello, I'm having a problem.
Svchost is using between 40 to 70 % of the CPU.
This seems odd to me, is it supposed to use so much?

Or do I have a problem?

Oh, also I'm using a 4770K so it's not like I'm lacking power.

Try to put the process at the lowest priority if it allows you and also run the command 'msconfig.exe' in CMD, go to Services tab and disable the unused services that can be taking resources.

About the priority, I am not keen on Windows 8 but probably is right click on the process name and selecting the appropriate option. If nothing appears, look for something about advanced or expert view.

You should consider the possibility you have a virus/malware using the Svchost process. Its unusual for it to be hogging that much cpu continuously.
