Really depends on what the machine is for and whether you do plan to overclock or not. I assume you're planning on this being a solid gaming system but you need to clarify on overclocking.

If you plan to overclock and game, filippi's build is good. I would certainly look at his suggested PSU - that seems a cracking deal to me on a recommended PSU (it's £70+ here in the UK).

If you don't plan to overclock and/or prefer to stay on Intel then you can either go with tiny voice's suggestion on Haswell, or stay on Ivy Bridge but drop to the 3570 instead of 3570K, drop to a H77 board, drop the aftermarket cooler and that might give you enough left over (coupled with your $50 underspend) for a 7870XT or 7950.
I see you intend to overclock, right? At this price range, you should consider AMD:

OK, here's an Intel suggestion then: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/RS78/saved/2XSn That's got a 7950 in which is a far better card than the 7870 (which is no slouch either by the way).

However, I just read on another thread that there is a rumour about a Black Friday coming up where you can get the AMD FX8320 and Asus motherboard for $200. That would be a cracking deal as it's filippi's build at $65 less and it saves you about $105 on the build I've just put together.
