Will windows easy transfer be able to handle my windows vista 32-bit to windows 7 64-bit transfer

No, you cannot upgrade from a 32-bit to 64-bit. You will need to perform a fresh install if you want to move to 64-bit

Ok thanks. So I will have to move all files, pictures, music, documents, etc. to my external HD myself. The downloadable Windows Easy Transfer program will not be able to do that for me?

And when you do, copy the files, not the containing folders.
The folders Music/Documents/etc are linked to your original user. The files inside are not. Copying the folders will require extra steps afterwards.

Wrong. Easy transfer can migrate profiles and data from 32-bit to 64-bit, but not the other way around.

Thanks, I stand corrected.

It was my understanding that Easy Transfer did not work for a clean install, but I forgot about the custom upgrade option from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7.
