My CPU refuses to come out of it's socket.

I'm replacing a CPU on my motherboard and it won't come out of the socket! From the things I've read online, it should come out fairly easy but it won't even budge! How can I get it out without damaging anything?

did you pull the lever that locks it in place? there is a latch that secures the chip. try twisting it back and forth as you lift, but it should be rather easy to remove.

Sorry have to ask, you did un-latch it didn't you? Unless some thermal paste leaked in there (and it would probably have to be a lot) and is solidified holding it in, the CPU is not held in in any other fashion.

yep it is unlatched and the heat sink is off of it but for some reason the processor won't come out. I'm almost positive no thermal paste did leak in, I haven't seen any signs of it. It went into place fine when I put it in, I don't get why it won't come out now.

Yep, I know where it is, and it is unlatched. I took the heatsink fan off first and am now trying to get the processor off and it's not coming. By the way, nice profile pic, I like it.

I have the same problem as you.I am pretty sure we bent the pins on the motherboard when taking off the heatsink because the thermal paste wasn't loosened by slightly twisting the heatsink back and forth before taking it off fully. Taking my motherboard into a computer place tomorrow to get it checked out. Any luck from November?
