I just purchased an after market gpu cooler for my evga reference gtx 670. With the stock cooler with msi afterburner at +100 core +150 mem I was going over 100 degrees celsius in heaven 4.0 I am shooting for a 1050mhz core clock with my new cooler. I would like to know what appropriate and safe temps would be for my card. I have an ambient temp of 29 degrees celsius with 5 or 6 corsair 120mm fans in my carbide 300r. Noise is not that much of an issue as long as the fans are not audible with beats headphones. I have already adjusted all fan profiles in my bios for an optimal cooling to noise ratio. I play Star Citizen, PS2, Arma 3, Skyrim AC3, the Crysis series, and BF4.
The rest of my specs are i5-3570k oc-ed to 4.3ghz with a hyper 212 evo (max 80 degrees in prime95). ASUS sabertooth z77 mobo. 16gb of 1600mhz Adata gaming series ram. An EVGA supernova 750w psu. Corsair neutron gtx 480gb ssd. Running at 1080p on a 24inch monitor with windows 7 64bit.

Solution
If your ambients are super hot that might explain some of it, but 92C at 100% fan speed sounds more like the card was broken, it should be closer to 70C at most with a fan speed like that.

EVGA gpus are known for heat issues. With my fan (only one on the reference cooler) at 100% I got it down to 92 after a 30min test. At stock clock my 670 got up to 84 degrees until I stopped heaven. I live in the caribbean and electricity is expensive so I am unable to cool my house properly. Is 55 degrees above ambient with stock all that bad? I have yet to benchmark my new cooler. I also idle at 35-36 if that helps.
