Good day everyone. I have a posh-book ( a netbook) that has winXp home edition installed on it.
However, it does not bootup, right before windows splash screen it shuts down. Since I don't have the CD decided to install one of linuxs' OSs because I can't buy another windows operating system. Would someone help me, please. Thanks in advace. Cy

Both ubuntu and mint come in netbook versions that are very easy on resources. Personally, I like the mint distros as they are more "windows" like on the desktops.

You can use the YUMI installer from pendrivelinux (HERE), but you will need a friend with windows to format your usb stick and place the iso's on the drive. Once you have that, you can run either distro directly from the usb and use that try out the systems. Once you decide on what you like, you can install that distro directly to your netbook either side by side with xp or as a complete reformat and install.

If you want to keep xp, you can still find the download iso I believe and use your authentication key that came with your netbook. You can put that iso on the usb key also, along with the windows installer.
