if spending around 120.00 for motherboard what brand and what would be the difference in speed would I see from eighter an intel or amd processor, I would go with an I7 or quad to 8 core.

Any time, any day. I built my computer around gaming and video editing, while keeping my cost to a minimal range (I spent $1200 on my otherwise $1800 build), and this motherboard has held out great. Even though it does not look as "fancy" as some of the ASUS boards, the right Gigabyte board does the job well

I've always heard that asus is a good motherboard, but hear that they have poor customer service, and that msi has good customer service but are they good for gaming. I've seen a brand ESC are they any good. I've seen reviews on the z87 and the Fx 990 GD-65 and GD -80 are good. Is that true. I just want to get the best bang for my buck. I want good performance and reliability along with good customer service

Well, you are right about ASUS being a great motherboard. A good in the middle in my opinion is Gigabyte - A good quality board, with good customer service. If you are going all out, go to ASUS though. I bought my board ( GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 for $100 about a year back now. Running the i7-3770K on it, and it runs great.
