Hello everyone, looking for some quick tips on a CPU/MoBo combo.

I already have-
-Radeon HD7950 (MSI Twin Frozr R7950)
-Corsair TX650 Power Supply.

Looking to buy-
-Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge-E 3.7GHz (Turbo 3.9GHz) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80633i74820K
-ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Is this is a good combo, and will my PS power this?
I can get this combo for about $630

What's the rig for? It's definately a good combo, but depending might be better off with a 1150 socket mobo and a Haswell

Rig is just for gaming. Would like to get some good components so I don't have to upgrade anytime soon.

I have read some other post that seem to be leading away form the 2011 socket as well. Any reason why?

The Haswell i7 mobo combos I see have integrated graphics. ( cpu/mobo combo @ newegg)
Is there a 1150 mobo you suggest that doesn't have integrated graphics?

The 1150 mobos themselves don't have integrated graphics, that's for the CPU's on board graphics, most all continue to use a discrete graphics card. For a good gaming rig, can look at a 4670K and I'd suggest the Asus Maximus VI Hero mobo - can of course go with a lower or higher priced mobo but the Hero is a great one, especially for gaming...

OK thank you very much, I can get the 4670k for $225 or I can go up to the i7 4770k for $290, and the 4770k comes with heatsink and fan. The 4670k does not.
perhaps i would have to upgrade to a better heatsink/fan anyways?

does that make this deal better to go for? i dont mind spending 300 on the cpu if its worth it.

The 4770K is stronger and the primary difference is the 4770K has Hyper threading, which most games don't use but they are starting to so it would be a good move - for a cooler and OCing to about 4.4 or 4.5 the Hyper 212 EVO is a good one for about $30-35

The WD Blacks are good drives, might check the Blue versions also they are for all intents and purposes the same thing, stay away from the Green - those are most often 5400 RPM

Can 'close' the thread by clicking on the Green Pick as Solution button in the response that best answers your question, it lets others know the issue is solved, yet you can still add to it and those that have responded will get a notification that something new has come up
