My apu is the AMD A4-5300
My cousin game me his 7850 so.....
will it bottleneck? also my mobo only supports apu's is there any good apu's that would work as good as a regular cpu?
btw ill be playing mostly league of legends, starcraft, and shogun 2

Or should i just get a new mobo and cpu

Solution
That A4 will definitely be holding the 7850 back in most modern games, it's on par with an older Core 2 Duo

You could consider a new Mobo+CPU such as an FX 6300 or an Intel option if you are willing to pay extra

You could also just get an Athlon II X4 750k or 760k for your current motherboard socket as a cheaper alternative too, you'll definitely see a nice performance boost over the A4

Most modern games are beginning to push the CPU side too so an A4 would not be cutting it as it's only a dual core with rather weak single threaded performance as well

You'll have no problems with LoL though

Starcraft 2 should also be alright, even if held back a little...

There have been issues with Shogun 2's CPU utilisation so the weak single threaded performance will hit harder here (for AMD in general), Intel CPUs with their powerful single threads will take over in Shogun 2 as a result. Still, you'll be able to tone down a bit to achieve playable results

I think you should be just fine. Yes that APU may not be able to push that GPU as well as say a i5 3570K or FX-8350 but that does not mean it would be bad or give you bad performance.

Every rig has a bottleneck of some sort it is simply the worst performing component in the system be it the CPU GPU RAM HDD and so on. That does not mean there will always be a negative impact on performance.

Even with a APU I think your frame rate will be just fine in those games that you would have nothing to worry about.
