Hello everyone,

I just finished building my own computer and I encountered, not necessarily a problem, but an issue with my RAM. When I try to set it to 1600mhz; my computer freezes on boot (doesn't even show POST) and I have to click the MemOk! button on my board to have boot properly to only make it as far as my BIOS, then it stops and never reaches the OS.

Specs:
AMD FX - 6300 Black Edition
Asus M5a97 R2.0 (Not "LE" model and is 1600mhz compatible)
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Sapphire R9 270x OC

What do I need to do to increase my RAM's clock speed to where it is supposed to be? And is XMP compatible with AMD motherboards? I heard it wasn't. I tried the D.O.C.P which is a setting who's purpose is to increase to the default RAM's clock speeds, but it still failed.

Yup, as of now, it is v.1903 release 7/11/2013, so I'm sure the BIOS isn't out of date.
Thanks for the reply

Nope, sadly this did not work... although It did at least go past the BIOS and POST this time. Perhaps you were on the right track? Thanks for the suggestion!

I'll try that! But, could you explain why the increase in CPU/NB voltage will help? What is the relation between DIMM voltage and CPU/NB voltage? What is the goal?

Ok thanks for the info! Sadly this didn't work either... I'll just call the motherboard manufacturer
