Hi, i have recently decided to improve my current system. I have been using

e8500 dual core
4gb ram
600w PSU
Asus p5q deluxe MOBO
and now the GTX 760

initially i had purchased a GTX 770, however this provided no signal through the card. I changed it for a 760 and it seemed to work. My system is getting on for 5 years old.

So when the power dropped and my system turned off, i had the same issue of no display. I left it until morning and it worked again. Could it be that my PSU is older and more unstable?

Solution

I don't think it is your PSU, that's a good PSU with 85% efficiency. let's say over years now it can provide you with 500w power rather than 600w power, you are still good to go your whole system wont use anything more than...

Its been a while since i took it out, but it was a mid range PSU at the time. Im pretties sure its not a corsair or any of the current high end brands. I have heard they loose power over time. So what could be a 600w supply then, could now be a 500w etc?

I took the power supply out and its a: Nexus Tecknology, Switching power supply (model no: NX-8060)

Max combined power- 155w/580w/20w= total power 600w

Do you have any friends or a family member, so that you can take your GPU there, and give it a shot on their rigs?

Yesterday i had purchased the GTX 770, when i installed it it gave me no display. I went back and changed it for a slightly less powerful 760. this worked first try. However after powering down, i got the same issue of no display at turning it on (also no beep from motherboard, just fans powering up). This morning it worked again. Then after a restart same issue again. i have a Corsair 600w PSU arriving today. I just find it unlikely that 2 brand new cards of different versions are both broken.
