Replacing a Phenom II X6 1055T

Hello,
I bought 4 or 5 years ago a Phenom II X6 1055T, mainly because I was encoding video a lot.
I was wondering what would be a much better replacement for gaming, without breaking the bank (knowing I will have to replace the mobo as well) - I want to play some games (COD type) but without being a hard core gamer though
Same question for the graphic card: I "only" have right now a GT440. What would be a good choice pairing well with the recommended CPU at a reasonable price?

X6 1055T is pretty strong for cpu intensive program..

have you already overclock it ..?
clock per clock is almost same with 8 core vishera..
run it for at least 3.8 Ghz, and it'll be awesome.
at 4.2 Ghz, well, it'll leave fx8350 (stock) in the dust..

but yeah, in gaming (with a decent graphic card exp: 7/R series amd , or 6/7 series nvidia), even at the higher clock thuban still beaten by vishera core..

Honestly, gt440 is a weak graphic card.
Even if you replace your processor with the fastest one, you'll not see an improvement in any games.

my suggestion is, replace your gpu first..
then if you see some bottleneck, upgrade your processor.

Your CPU is more then capable of runing latest games on max if your graphics card was high end too! The GT440 is bottlenecking your CPU in games cause its too weak (belive me , i had one of thoose ..) and cause an amd cpu and gpu combo would be much better - get an AMD R7 or R9 GPU and it will be enough to play most games on max!
Here you can see the best r7 series card that i would like to get http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GDDR5-2GB-Graphics-GV-R7... and its a mid end card .. if you tell me whats your budget i can pick 1 for you cause this one is the cheapest for its performance

You can disable 2 cores and overclock the crap out of the remaining 4. 6 cores isn't needed for gaming anyway.

Replacing your video card as stated will help the most.

Overclock your CPU to what you can (3.2-3.6), then get yourself a HD7850.

Your gaming performance will go through the roof. As you said, you aren't hardcore, this will be plenty.

This is assuming your gaming performance is your only concern.

At $99 after rebate, this card is a ridiculous value. It tops the 6970 every time when overclocked while using less power. The 6970, as you may know, was a damn beast only a few years ago and released for $369. Also, the 7850 is nearly what new age consoles are using :) .

Hell yeah HD 7850's are the best video card values out there.

Thanks for all you answers
Between $100 and $150 max, what is the best fit in terms of video card for the 1055T?
Not too fast (don't want to pay extra $$ to have my cpu being the bottleneck) but not too slow.....Well, the ideal card for this cpu:)
Before I started that post, I was looking at the GTX660 or GTX650Ti. Are these cards worth the extra $35/$50?
Or the 7850 is definitely the best choice?

650ti boost have same horse power with 7850..
660 even slightly faster than 7870..
If 660 just $35 more than 7850, then get it.

Amd card is more gpu dependent than nvdia card..
so that's means, it's need more horse power to extract performance, even the game is not.
