Is my ram compatable?I've got g. Skill rip jaws x 2133mhz ram but this mobo says it will only support 1866, will it be compatable with this mobo?

Motherboard: ASUS
M5A78L-M LX PLUS

Officially speaking, it's not supported. It's an older motherboard chipset, which only supports DDR1333 as stock.

Having said that, if you rake through the memory support data, there are 2133 kits listed as supported. G Skill make quite a few variants of memory kits though, so it's impossible to tell if it will work. Motherboard manufacturers can't realistically test them all, so it's not a definitive list.

If you were buying ram for that motherboard, I'd generally advise sticking with 1.5V kits of 1333-1600Mhz (the list of 1600Mhz supported kits is pretty huge).
If, as I understand, you already have the ram and are looking to find a suitable motherboard, then I'd advise you to check up the model number of the ram, and the specifics...

Thanks for the reply,
as for the exact ram i have it is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231654
i was just wondering if it will be compatable at the 2133 speed which from the looks of it, it wont be. However, if downclocked, will it still work at 1866?
