Well I am ashamed to say that im my i7 -950 / amd 7970 rig I have been using the same ancient 5,400 RPM Sata II Drives in Raid 0 since I built the computer and I figured it was time for an upgrade..
I just bought the Samsung Evo 240 off ebay for $140 brand new , I couldn't pass that up I usually buy my components from newegg but their deals lately have been less then great for sure.
Thing is I have an Asus X58 Sabertooth Mobo which Doesn't have an intel 6 Gb/s controller It only have the Marvell 6 Gb's controller. I've read that the Samsung drives don't play nice with the Marvell controller at all.
Has anyone got their Marvell 6gb's controller to work well with this SSD or should I just plug it into my 3Gb's controller and take the loss.. I figure no matter what It was time for a HDD upgrade and anything should be faster then what I was using but I would really like to get the most out of this SSD if I can.
The SSD Isn't here yet I literally just ordered it but I need to make myself feel better and im nervous about buying the ssd with my marvell controller.
Thanks,
Jeff
