Hello,

I'm slowly amassing a list of parts for a new rig (gaming/audio editting). Yes I want hyperthreading so i5 is out. As far as processors go, which would be better with respect to the following critera:

1) Average temperatures (idle and load)
2) Power usage
3) Future proofing

I will not be overclocking either one of these. I'm looking for a solid processor that runs great without OCing. I have heard some weird things about the 4930k's heat spreader, namely that the 4930k idles at a hotter temp. (RIght now I'm using an i7 860 at stock speeds with stock cooler and I idle in the low 30C's.

Also assume money is not an issue.

Thoughts between these two? I'm looking for general pros and cons. :)

Thanks!

The 4930k will be hotter than the 3930k by a little bit (~10C), but is more power efficient. There are no "future-proof" CPU's but the i7-4930k will be better at performing in the future, as Sandy Bridge-E is getting outdated this year.
