None of us know for sure but the last reputable information I seen was a post on overclock.net by a Sapphire vendor stating they where working on them with expectations to get them out by late December.

My best guess would be between Dec 20 and Jan 1 at latest, going off what I have seen from various vendor reps discussing it around overclock.

What does "non-reference" mean in regards to the video card?

Will these cards basically just be the same card with a different fan? Or what will change? Will they also be more expensive?

Non reference means one of 2 things that the heat sink, fans and shroud are different to AMD's/Nvidia's design or that the PCB (that's the silicon board on which the chips are in bedded and circuits are printed on to) are different to AMD's/Nvidia's design.

Non Reference - Heat sink, fan, shroud.(Cooling)
Non reference designed Video cards are in 99% of cases are superior to the first designs of new models of cards brought out by AMD or Nvidia. With better heat dissipation and more efficient fans that are less noisy.

Non Reference - PCB.
In this case it means that you get better designed more durable components in your video card that allow for better over clocking, power distribution and tweaking. It also means that the life span of said card is far better than that of reference which in turn normally means better warranties.

To answer the original question it's either or. but normally non reference refers to both non reference PCB and cooling on a card and this normally means there more expensive. Hope that helps
