How many amps are you getting on the +12v rail on that 550w PSU?

No, it wont work well if its a generic cheap quality made PSU, please specify what is the brand of the PSU?

The system would work well enough in theory but it all depends on your Power Supply. You can't just say 550 Watt PSU without stressing what brand or model it is. If it's Corsair or Antec you should be fine.

We just built the same build u r looking at for my son. FX6300, R9 270x, 8 gigs of Ram, but used a Corsair 750 (got at a great price) and it is a beast of a setup. Runs BF4 at ultra at 60 FPS on a 30" Samsung TV...ridiculously clean. The build can probably provide faster FPS but the TV is only 60hrz so I thinks that is as fast as the TV will allow (I think thats how it works). This setup alos runs Planetside 2 at 60 FPS on the highest settings. He couldn't be happier. I think with a quality PSU you will be really happy.

Yes it will run fine as long as your psu is of decent quality and you don't have too many components in your computer. I have an overclocked fx 6300 at 4.4ghz and a r9 280x(consumes more power than your 270x) overclocked and I have no issues on my 520w psu.

Seasonic,Antec,Xfx, or some corsairs are solid psu's.
