Right now I have a 1tb 5400rpm HDD. Being 5400rpm I want to upgrade to a SSD, but don't want to re-install all my programs/games/settings/themes. I also cannot clone due to the fact that I am using around 500gb on my HDD and getting a 128g SSD. I was thinking of buying a 2/3tb 7200rpm HDD, cloning my current HDD to the 2/3tb, Install windows 7 on the SSD and a few programs I use a lot. Is there a way of doing this? Will I have to loose all the data/programs/games just to have OS on a SSD?

The ideal way is to install fresh on the SSD. The OS, and whatever applications you want. Reinstall your other applications on the HDD.

Save all your personal data and game save info elsewhere first.

Do you think cloning to a sshd would be a viable option?

Personally, I always recommend a fresh install rather than cloning. And definitely an SSD+HDD over a hybrid drive.

Unless your current install (of everything) is small enough to fit on the SSD then you cant clone anyways. You cant make 500gb of OS & games fit into a 120gb SSD. <grin>

So you wind up deleting stuff to try and make it small enough to fit or buy a program to move only the OS to the SSD.

A clean install is recommended.

Of course you can.
Use the freeware Aomei Backupper.
There are many article in their office web to teach you how.
You can read and learn first.

And such advice/suggestion completely fails to address the OPs question on the size issue, re: 500GB of OS and data and a 128GB SSD.
