I am currently running a Radeon 5830 and finally looking to upgrade. Currently thinking of purchasing a R9 280x(or a R9 290x once newer versions hit the market). My main question revolves around if it is possible to run a dedicated physx card and would I notice any major side effects. If it can be done, I am looking at a 650 Ti Boost as an option.

Last I heard the Hybrid Physx setups where not working very well anymore. The last time I ran Hybrid was with a 5770 and GTX 480 I believe, after that I have been unable to get it working correctly, about 6 months ago I stopped caring anyways as PhysX is sure to slowly die off with the new consoles being AMD based for GPU.

To be honest though, in recent months I disable PhysX if possible, even running Nvidia cards, not worth the performance hit to me.
