My computer runs fine for most of the time I'm on it, but if I leave it sit idle(even going to the bathroom sometimes is long enough to trigger it) for more than a few minutes I get a very large : ( face and "Critical_Process_Died" error.

It never happens when I'm actively using my computer, only when I leave it sit. I haven't done any windows updates recently, and I haven't done anything to the system folder of my computer(Which I've been told are two possible causes) that I can remember having done, so I'm unsure what's causing the problem.

I'm trying to do a system restore at the moment, but I can't actually figure out how to do a System Restore on Windows 8. Did they remove the option?

Are there other things I should try?

The computer's already attempted to repair the hard drive but it didn't solve or even alleviate the problem. It's just as prevalent as before.

Solution
Well, the next step is Refresh, and if that fails, Reset. Just type Refresh at the Start Screen and choose Refresh your PC from Settings.
At your 'Start Screen' type System, and from Settings choose System then System Protection to find System Restore.
Meanwhile run System File Checker.
Winkey plus X, choose Command Prompt (Admin)
Type sfc /scannow then press Enter
If nothing found consider System Restore or Refresh, bearing in mind Refresh will uninstall any software other than that loaded during initial installation...

Both sfc and System restore cause the computer to either lock up and freeze or crash with the same error.
