my pc cannot see my WD my passport...tried to plug it in the diff usb port.. still not seen even in the device mgr... not detected

Have a look in Disk Management, and if you see it there it probably just needs a drive letter assigning to it (right-click):
Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management.
In the bottom-right pane, click on the drive ribbon if you see it, then choose "Change Drive Letter & Paths".

If it is not shown in Disk Management either, the WD drive may have failed.

I have the exact same problem.

It can be seen under 'disk management' and 'device manager', but when I tried to 'change drive letter and path', the option is not available (greyed out). Only 'delete volume' is available for selection.

Yes I just had same problem. Go to delete volume. Delete it and then you can reformat it. That being said I hope there is nothing important on yours.
