So I've just installed a deep cool Gammaxx 300 on to my AMD 8320 CPU. Before I installed it the stock fan was running at a steady 55 degrees while gaming and idled at about 15 degrees but was very very loud. When I bought this fan I didn't plan on overclocking so I'm running at stock clock speeds, but now after I installed this new fan its running at 69 degrees while gaming but can get as low as 2 degrees at idle??? 69 degrees is above the recommended CPU temperature of 62 so what should I do reseat the heatsink?

Solution
When gaming, other parts in the system(video card and even memory) may add more heat to the case.

Does the heatsink it self feel warm when running the system. at idle if you stop the fan, do the temps go up fast and does the heatsink get hot.

almost seems like an issue with the heatsink it self(this is quite rare.).
I would for sure. Maybe ensure the fan is running at full speed to ensure that is not the issue.

That cooler should perform much better.

Did you ensure ALL the old thermal paste was removed from the cpu before installing the new paste and cooler?
How much paste did you use? It only takes a small dab.

on a side note, you know that a cpu can not idle at 2 degrees unless the room is about -8 or so degrees. AMD just does not have sensors that work well under a certain temperature(something like 40c or so). They are more than upto the job of saving the cpu from melting down. 69 is very hot, but not actually over spec since the spec is for socket temperature(generally thought of as about 10c lower than core) not core.

The fan is running at full speed, and the socket temp is at 60 degrees ish give or take a degree. I used medi swabs to clean all the old thermal paste off the cpu (they are 70% isopropyl alcohol) and used coffee filters to scrape most of the old paste off. The thermal paste came pre applied as well so Im no sure whats happening no more paste came off when I used another clean swab also.

I've reseated and the temperatures remain the same. But what is really strange is that both CPUID and core temp say I get to 67 degrees max during a stress test with prime 95 but while gaming I get to 69 degrees??? Very strange.

I have just felt around the bottom of the heatsink when it was supposedly at 70 degrees, but I could have kept my hand there all day! So I decided to update my bios and then it started reading my temperatures correctly! Under a stress test the cpu doesnt even get hotter than 40 degrees =). Thank you for your help.

Well thats just ASrock for you! Still feeling around down there just incase these temperatures are wrong too but all seems fine. Hottest I reached was 50C and I was able to touch the bottom of the heatsink then (was a bit hot but to be expected) so I think thats my problem solved =)
